Ashley and Kevin have been together for several years, but the time to get married is right for them now.  Sometimes that’s the way it goes, and a couple can enjoy everything that much more when they’ve waited longer.  Doug and I experienced that — if we would have gotten married when everyone thought we should — we maybe wouldn’t be as settled and as happy in our relationship and our marriage.  However, we waited until the time was right for us — which is the feeling I get with Ashley and Kevin.

They are going to have a wonderful celebration this fall.  They will be wed at Holy Name with the reception following at The Federal Ballroom.  They were engaged in Destin — but Ashley likes City Park — so they opted to do their engagement session there.  They also wanted to include their son, Kaiden, in some of the photos too.  He was such a cutie pie!  His smile was contagious, and he listened really well, especially since there was a playground calling his name from the distance.  We got the photos with him, and then let him run off to play with Grandma.  I’m looking forward to November y’all!  Enjoy!

Nikki and Justin are such sweethearts, and an adorable couple.  Poor Nikki though, she was freezing!  She had goosebumps half of the session.  Just when we thought it was warming up, we’d turn the corner and be hit with blistering wind again.  She was a trooper though, and you really can’t tell by her expressions how cold she was.  We just had Justin nuzzle in a few times to help warm her up.  And we had him let her borrow his armpits for her hands at least once!

I like this time of the year because I generally have a lot of engagement sessions before the weather turns hot.  When my mind is fresh, but in engagement mode, I tend to come up with some unique things.  On this morning, I was very excited with the first image you see below.  I always try to challenge myself to see something new, or take a new angle on things, and I can say, that this shot is something I have not done before.  I love it!  I hope y’all do too.

I was so excited to get things started officially with Greg and Stephanie!  Greg actually works in the same building as our studio, which is how they found out about us.  We had a foggy morning for the session, but it had already begun to lift by the time we got out there.  I was really excited that morning because my brain seemed to be firing differently.  Sometimes that happens as an artist, and I love when I see things a little differently, or when I find new angles and new spots in the Quarter, despite shooting there often.

Stephanie and Greg certainly helped to spark the creativity that morning.  They were both at ease right away, and were simply enjoying each other’s company.  When Stephanie went to change clothes Greg told me that it was more fun than what he had expected.  I love when the guys have fun!!  And I told him, it’s usually not too bad when you get to make out with your girl for a couple of hours!  haha!  He agreed though!  :)
