Belinda & Mark – Married!

Arte by CheyAnne & Vanessa

I have adored Belinda from our first meeting.  She’s so elegant and classic…..and dramatic.  :)   In a good way!!  She was in theater so I teasingly call her my drama queen.  But really, her theatrics and natural beauty are part of what make her photos so stunning!  I forgot how much I loved this set of photos until I sat down to blog them.  There are so many that have such a timeless look that it’s hard to tell if they were taken in 2013 or 1913.

Belinda had done a lot of the planning in the way of details that they wanted incorporated.  I always love personalized details because it adds so much more to the day, and people that know the couple really well appreciate the extra thought that goes into those items.  There was lots of family memorabilia and photos on the guest table, including Mark’s deceased father’s U.S. flag from serving in the military.  There was also a shadowbox  with a photo from the proposal and a magnolia from the tree they were under at the time.  How sweet!  Under the photos on the table was fabric from the train of Belinda’s mother’s wedding dress.  The ring bearers “pillow” was actually Mark’s father’s old bible, and the flower girl’s basket was one that Belinda carried in her Aunt Annette’s wedding.  That’s just a few things!

The day itself was absolutely beautiful!  A gorgeous April day in New Orleans.  Mark, the groom, he was wonderful too.  He’s a bit more reserved than Belinda, but he does his best to keep up with her — including the occasional vogue face with her!  Haha!  His best man made a spectacular toast that really summed up Mark as a stand up guy and a successful man.  I was impressed!  And the ladies did a fabulous job with their toasts too — adding some humor to the night starting out with a little bit from the “Bridesmaids” movie.  They were hilarious!  And then of course things turned sweet and tears soon ensued.  :)

It was such a beautiful day.  Thanks so much for allowing us to be a part of it!  Enjoy!

Cathy & Matt – Engaged!

Arte by CheyAnne

Cathy & Matt are actually neighbors of ours.  We’ve occasionally bumped into them during the past couple of years — and it’s always been pleasant.  Always a hello spoken, a wave, or small talk.  And every time, Doug and I have said to each other, “we should really get to know them, they seem really nice.”  One night recently we found ourselves on the elevator at the same time and Cathy remembered that we’re photographers.  She told us they were engaged and in need of an engagement session.  They are actually getting married in South Carolina, but wanted to incorporate Nola into the photos.

We started out at our building because they wanted a photo on the rooftop, and then headed into the Quarter.  I had such a fabulous time getting to know these two, and imparting all the wedding advice/wisdom that I could impart.  :)  When the session was over we found ourselves right by Fiorella’s, and they had never eaten there.  The night went on for another few hours after the session as new friendships were made.  And that is why I love my job!!  Can’t wait to hang out again guys!  Enjoy!

Jean & Paul – Married!

Arte by CheyAnne & Vanessa

Jean and Paul are honest to goodness down to earth people.  Upon first meeting them I was completely at ease and in awe.  We were talking about it last week, and we agreed that we think they came to our initial consult in running clothes because they had just finished a run.  They are both very active with biking, marathons, etc.  I’ve always wanted to do something like that, but haven’t — so I certainly admire those with the motivation to do so.

It was great to get to see them again for the wedding.  As Jean was getting ready she explained to me that Paul wanted them to bring their bikes to Nola for their wedding week.  She really didn’t understand why he wanted to go through all of that extra trouble.  She found out once they got to town — he had coordinated a bike tour of the city with several of their family and friends.  And this groom-t0-be did not stop there — he also had a special white biking outfit for Jean, and he wore black.  How cute is that?!  I seriously love thoughtful gestures and plans that have meaning.  Wonderful job Paul!

Paul and Jean’s friends and family were also wonderful to be around.  The day went so smoothly, and everyone had a fantastic time.  I had heard that there was an Australian contingency in attendance at the wedding.  It was near the end of the wedding reception when a gentleman leaned in the middle of the group of people dancing and asked Vanessa and I in a thick Australian accent, “Are New Orleans weddings always this fun?!”  We both shook our heads emphatically, that yes, what he was experiencing was typical of a New Orleans wedding.  That’s why I wouldn’t want to live and work anywhere else!  Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your day!  Enjoy!
