Carrie and Chris were married May 18th in a beautiful ceremony in Vine Grove, Ky. They truly had a lovely ceremony and celebration. From a photographer’s standpoint, I had a very fulfilling day! I’ve known Carrie for a long time as we went to school together, and she is the sister-in-law of one of my best friends. This always makes for a more relaxing day when we shoot because we already come with a certain instilled amount of trust. Carrie’s preparation was a lot of fun, her girls kept popping in and out of the restroom to talk to her and keep her company while she had her hair and makeup done. Once everyone had their hair and makeup complete we headed over to Carrie’s parent’s house for the ladies to get dressed. Chris arrived a short while later, and Tyler and I took the beautiful bride outside to greet her groom for their First Look.
Carrie and Chris’ families both have farms out in the same area. They are the most humble, gracious, sincere families. I just love being out in the country every now and then — it’s so beautiful, and it just feels like it’s all about family out there. For these two families, that really is true. Anyhow, I digress, their first look was so sweet! Chris is a quiet guy normally, but he looked fabulous and was so excited to see Carrie. They looked at each other, and immediately wrapped up in each other’s arms. Carrie looked absolutely stunning! Once they had a few minutes together we wandered around the property taking some photos of just the two of them. Again, I was in all my glory. I absolutely adore my New Orleans weddings, but I’m from Kentucky, so it’s always nice to have a change of pace and be creative in a different way. Apparently, Tyler, our good friend and my second shooter for the day, told Doug that I was out of control that day! In a good way of course!
I was very pleased with our portraits of the two of them. And just as pleased with the family photos and the wedding party images that we captured after the first look.
Their ceremony was held at their church in Vine Grove. To me it was a very sentimental ceremony. I found myself choking back the tears once or twice from behind the camera. Especially touching was that the priest marrying Carrie and Chris, also married Carrie’s parents 38 years prior, to the day!! How amazing is that? I told you, these families are amazing — Chris’ parents will celebrate 37 years this month!
Once the ceremony wrapped up they headed to their reception where they visited with friends and relatives, and danced the night away. Carrie’s father was very impressive with his ballroom like moves out on the dance floor. He twirled Carrie around the dance floor with such poise and grace!
Carrie and Chris later departed through a tunnel of sparklers to their crazily decorated car! Thanks for such a wonderful day!! Enjoy!
