Friends & Future Family!

Well, this is our typically slow time of year so there aren’t as many wedding related shoots to post, so I figured it’s time to post some things a bit more personal. After all, I’m told that’s why we do blogs instead of portfolio sites now, so you guys and gals can get to know us a bit more personally:) I’m so glad I waited so long to get around to making this particular post, because a couple of the photos hold a much greater meaning now than at the time they were taken.

You see, my younger brother Kevin served a 1-year tour in Iraq with the Army back in 2010 and returned just in time for his birthday in December 2010. I threw a huge welcome home party (at which I also proposed to CheyAnne) and I had our good friends Melissa & Sarah, with Melissa’s Fine Pastries, make a redfish shaped cake as a surprise. Melissa & Sarah stayed at the party long enough to see his reaction and blow out the candles, as well as our proposal, but apparently long enough for Sarah to come up with the idea that perhaps Sarah & Kevin would like to get to know each other a bit more.

Once you get to know us, you know some of the things we enjoy the most in life are good food, good friends, and family – and of course we always try to combine all three! Melissa and her husband Tom are both professionally trained chefs so it’s always a pleasure when they host, as I always try to turn it into a lesson on cooking. We decided to do a Sunday brunch and Sarah invited Melissa and I invited my brother without letting our intentions be known. We enjoyed the most delicious creamed spinach and Eggs Benedict, along with a generous amount of mimosas.

After the brunch, Sarah & Kevin hit it off quite well and started dating. Just over a year later, the two are engaged and just like that, a good friend will become good family. I just love the first two photos of Kevin & Sarah, and I only wish they could remember what they were thinking back then! The final photo is just after he popped the question and we all celebrated at Boucherie with, of course, good food, good friends and good family!
