  • Doug and CheyAnne fell in love while in school for photojournalism at Western Kentucky University. It didn’t take them long to realize they had more than a shared interest in photography. They are very excited to have just been the bride and groom finally, as they were married in April 2012. Both are truly romantics at heart, and love documenting one of the happiest days in a couple’s life. They’ve realized on their own journey this past year the importance of great photos that capture not just the event, but the emotion, so the memories can be felt and not just remembered.

Casey & Douglas Married!

Arte by Doug & Titus

Casey & Douglas were married in one of my favorite places of all, Jackson Square! Granted I’m a little biased since that’s where I was married one year ago:)Casey started off the day with her bridal prep at the Royal Sonesta, where just the night before her and her girls were having a great time throwing beads from their Bourbon Street balcony. We were a little worried about the weather as it was really overcast and light rain was predicted, but overall it didn’t have any negative effect on the day at all. To those who say rain on your wedding day is good luck, well, they probably didn’t have a rainy wedding day. I’ll take dry weather every wedding weekend!

The ceremony was sincere and light-hearted as the minister even incorporated his iPad to the sermon and how he used Facebook to learn a bit more about Casey and Douglas. Once the vows were over all the guests retreated to the center of the Square for cocktails while we finished their group portraits and a few shots of the newlyweds. The cloudy weather actually helped in me getting a more dramatically lit portrait by the gates of the Square, which is a style I really like. A 2nd Line parade then took everyone through the Quarter to the Wax Museum for the party to start. But first, we ran over to the Desire sign on Bourbon and a Lucky Dog stand for a few fun pics with Casey and Doug.

The rest of the night was a really great party and Doug spent a quite a bit of time on the dance floor for a groom, so props to you buddy! The end of the night though may be the most talked about part of their wedding. Not only did they exit through a shower of sparklers, they then hopped on their tandem bike which they brought with them from Florida, and rode off into the sunset!       Ok, so it was really the neon lights of Bourbon Street, but work with me here people!  Casey & Douglas, thanks so much for including us in your big day and we wish you both all the best!

Meet Rachel & PJ!

Arte by Doug

I got to spend the afternoon with Rachel and PJ at City Park a couple weeks ago and we had a great time getting to know each other a little better! PJ was the center for the LSU Fighting Tigers, so I was happy to talk a little football with him:) I remember when I first met with Rachel and they were trying to decide on the date for their wedding based on the last possible date before PJ would have to report to the NFL and things went well, and he made ti to the combine so we wish him luck in the future! We are looking forward to their wedding this July at St. Joseph’s and Mardi Gras World!

Shelby & Kody Married!

Arte by Doug & Titus

Shelby & Kody were married on March 16 at Rayne Memorial United Methodist Church. It was an absolutely beautiful day for an absolutely beautiful couple! The morning started off with Shelby and her girls getting ready at the Royal Sonesta. Everything went so smooth and the team from the Makeup Lab did a fabulous job on all the ladies. Once Shelby was zipped into her gorgeous dress, it was time to meet her groom at their First Look.

Kody is such a cool guy and made for a great groom, as he was completely excited about seeing his bride and enjoyed the pics with his bride, constantly joking around, making us all laugh, and just had a great time through the entire picture taking process.  Take notes my fellow grooms………even if you fake it, the more you try to enjoy the process the more enjoyable it will be and the better the photos will be, and of course the happier your bride will be:) Once we completed all the family formals it was time to load up the limo buses and head over to the church!

After the vows were exchanged and Mr. and Mrs. Kilshaw were presented for the first time, it was time to head back to the Sonesta for, what became quite the epic reception. But before the serious partying started, the drinks were flowing during the cocktail hour as people also got to enjoy towers of macaroons from Sucre. I love the way they started the reception off…..the band hit the first new notes and then all three larges sets of doors were opened together to let everyone in to the gorgeous ambiance created by florist Dunn & Sonnier. Thanks to the guys with Bella Productions for letting us quickly borrow a tripod to get the cool shot of everyone entering….you’ll see the motion blur shot down towards the bottom. The band then continued to jam for a full four hours to a packed dance floor, and just when you thought everyone would be exhausted, it was time to fire up the brass band and get the 2nd Line going! I’m pretty sure an amazing time was had by all, and that includes us! Shelby and Kody, thanks so much for having Arte de Vie as part of your incredible wedding celebration, and we wish you both all the best!
