Wow! I hardly know where to start with this wedding rehearsal dinner celebration! Do I talk about the lovely couple first? Do I mention the adorable grandparents? The love between parents and children? The ambiance of the Seiler Bar in downtown Covington?
In the first 60 seconds of walking into the Seiler Bar for this rehearsal dinner, I knew that it was going to be a good night. My senses were on overload. The textures, the sounds, the smells, and the bustle inside the restaurant were buzzing in my mind. I promised myself I was going to write things down that night, but I did not. However, our photos do the scene justice in this case, so it’s easy to recall. Seiler Bar was quaint, aged, and classic. A very suitable fit for our lovely bride and groom. The mural on the wall reflected the atmosphere of the room — a good time to be had by all. The jazz band playing in the corner set the perfect tempo for the evening.
It was the first time we met the groom, and he was just as dashing and charming as the bride, her mother, and sister had promised. Watching Matt and Laine together warmed the insides of my heart. Watching both sides of this family warmed me from head to toe. I get excited about love. And I get even more excited when people are affectionate and aren’t afraid to show it. There’s such truth, beauty, and grace in a touch, a glance, a hug… it’s real. This night was one of those nights that ignites a flame within us. It’s these kind of moments that we are passionate about. As much as we can coax some things out of people and get them to relax in front of the camera, this is the real deal. We can’t make this stuff up, we just have to be on our game and ready to capture every second.
And Laine’s grandparents? Don’t even get me started! Her grandma and I bonded quickly. She is so beautiful, and I could tell in an instant that I loved her spirit. They way that she looked at her husband of 50 years said it all. I always feel blessed to witness that kind of love. They are such a wonderful example for us all.
These few paragraphs only begin to scratch the surface, but I hope the following images will put you there. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the whole family on both sides. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly, and loving. Thank you for letting us be a part of your celebration! Enjoy!
Did you see Laine’s stunning Marigny Opera House Bridal Session?
Dear Doug & Cheyanne,
I. Am. Blown. Away!!!! The two of you captured that night at The Seiler Bar (which we call “the mini reception”!) It was such a special night for Laine and Matt and our families, and that is evident by the pictures and moments you harnessed – with both grace and realism … We are thoroughly impressed with your talent, fantastic descriptions in your blog and the priceless photos! Thank you for everything so far, bridals and rehearsal dinner … we cannot wait for the wedding photographs!
Sincerely yours, Britton Cook (the sister!)
